Plano ranked the second best city in the country for families

Communities can vary quite a bit in how good of a place they are for families. All parents generally hope that where they live will be a good place to raise their kids. Thus, parents here in Plano may find the results of a recent WalletHub report very encouraging indeed.

The report ranks the U.S.'s 150 most populous cities based on how well-suited they are to family life. In coming up with the ranks, the report looked at 30 different metrics. These metrics were put into five broad categories: socioeconomic environment, affordability, education & child care, health & safety and family activities & fun.

Plano did remarkably well in the report. It was given the No. 2 overall rank. The only city the report rated as a better place for families than Plano was Overland Park, Kansas.

Plano did particularly well in the socioeconomic environment, affordability and education & child care categories, as it ranked in the top 10 in all three of these categories. It was ranked 3rd in socioeconomic environment, 7th in affordability and 8th in education & child care. The category Plano had its worst rank in was family activities & fun. It was ranked 62th for that category.

Do you agree with the report's finding that Plano is one of the best places for families in the country? What do you think is the best thing Plano has to offer families? What area do you think there is the most room for improvement in when it comes to Plano's family-friendliness?

Now, even when living in a great place for families, challenges can arise for parents regarding raising the kids when going through a divorce. What do you see as some of the biggest challenges divorced families in Plano face?

One of the things that can be of help when it comes to addressing the challenges that can come up for divorced families is getting fair and appropriate arrangements in place regarding child support and child custody. Such arrangements, when well-tailored to a divorced family's situation, can help with ensuring the children are getting the financial support they need and that a custody setup is in place that will promote the children's best interests. Attorneys can help divorcing parents in their efforts to reach child custody and child support arrangements well-suited to their family's needs and situation.
